HIGHLANDERS have dismissed social media reports that coach Benjani Mwaruwari has resigned, with the club insisting that the former Zimbabwe international remains in charge ahead of Sunday’s Chibuku Super Cup derby against Chicken Inn.
Acting executive chairperson Kindman Ndlovu said on Saturday that the club had not received any resignation from Mwaruwari and was proceeding with preparations for the eagerly anticipated Bulawayo derby.
“The club is unaware of any resignation. We are preparing for the match against Chicken Inn. The planning process is going on well. We are preparing for the match and we are planning to have a session after some disruptions we have had during the week,” said Ndlovu.
The clarification comes amid growing speculation over Mwaruwari’s future at Bosso following a turbulent week that disrupted the team’s preparations for the cup clash.
Ndlovu acknowledged that the players had not trained, but said the club was working to ensure preparations for the derby resume.
