On Sunday they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Harare City, after goalless draws against Motor Action and Chicken Inn.
Premiership returnees Buffaloes eased into fourth place while Monomotapa are in fifth position.
Bosso and Monomotapa are now only separated by five points while, at one stage, Bosso led the second-placed team by five points.
Despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Chicken Inn at home, Shabanie Mine shot into second place after dislodging rivals FC Platinum who were beaten 0-2 by Monomotapa.
And Shabanie Mine coach, Luke Masomere, said he was happy with the point picked, rather than mourn about the two points dropped at home, which saw the Chinda Boys blowing the chance to go on top as joint leaders with Highlanders.
“If a top team like Highlanders goes for three matches without a win, why should we complain when we are not vying for the championship?
“I was happy with the result and it’s not a guarantee that when you play at home you should win.
“We were missing a number of our regular players but we are in a comfortable position and will continue to enjoy our football,” said Masomere.
The Zvishavane side will be traveling to Harare this Thursday for a clash against Motor Action and the coach believes it would be one of their toughest matches so far.
Life is also rosy for Mutare side Buffaloes who find themselves in the big boys’ club.
On Sunday, Buffaloes’ Kelvin Thembani bundled home a fifth minute strike and it was all the side needed to beat visiting Quelaton at Sakubva.
Coach Saul Chaminuka believes the competition is very stiff in the league and no single team is enjoying any monopoly of success.
“Teams are playing football and there is competition unlike a situation where one team extends the lead, this is encouraging.
“The race should be open so that the sparkle remains there.
“Things are going on well for us and even if we don’t play well we are managing to score at least one goal and defend it.
“We are working hard as a team, as you know our team doesn’t have many experienced players, but just has a few veteran players.
“We want to survive and we can only do so during this first half because in the second half it would be difficult,” said Chaminuka.
The army side, which has been playing well away and choking at home, has a tricky assignment tomorrow when they meet Blue Rangers at Gwanzura.
Rangers won their first match this season on Sunday when they beat Hardbody and would be looking to clinch another victory at home.
One of the major upsets in the Premiership last weekend saw former champions Monomotapa beating FC Platinum 2-0 at Gwanzura. The Taurai Mangwiro-side was just in nonsense mood and a own goal by Qadr Amini, after his goalkeeper Francis Tizayi tried to punch the ball to safety barely two minutes into the match, and
another first half goal by forward Makai “Jecha” Kawashu drained all the steam out of the Kugona Kunenge Boys. The Monoz coach said he was now expecting a strong second half show by his charges who have been very inconsistent.
“If we can improve on our away record then we should begin to say something. We lack consistency and fail to have two or three consecutive victories.
“But I believe from what I saw against Platinum we have a chance to have a strong second half.
“Against Shabanie we had best performance but we were our worst enemies and we lost but I am seeing an improvement and now calling for consistency week in week out,” said Mangwiro. Warriors’ coach, Rahman Gumbo, must be feeling the heat again after the latest stumble.
