Chunga’s jersey fetched US$700 while Mutizirwa’s jersey was auctioned for US$300.
On top of the US$70 000 realised from the pledges, each table of 10 people cost US$1 000 and the figures of the total number of tables sold were not available.
Companies that graced the chilly evening occasion and pledged financial and material support included ZMDC, who chipped in with highest chunk, Airforce of Zimbabwe, ZRP Support Unit, Morris Depot, DMC, Focus Construction, ZRP Women Network and Chikurubi Urban.
Individuals also chipped in with Senior Commissioners Justice Chengeta and Mekia Tanyanyiwa also donating to the cause.
Black Mambas chairman Tanyanyiwa heaped praise on the companies for their generous support.
“I am happy to inform the corporates that Black Mambas in the past gained valuable knowledge of the game through our association with soccer legends like Ndlovu brothers Peter and Madinda and Chunga,” said Tanyanyiwa.
The club chairman indicated that the funds would go into the coffers of the club to supplement what they were getting from their sponsors BancABC.
Tanyanyiwa believes the win over Gunners at Morris Depot on Saturday was the beginning of a new era for Mambas.
Guest of honour, Jerry Ndlovu, the general manager of ZMDC, believes with the support of the corporate world, Mambas could turn into a force to reckon with.
“I am reliably informed that the Black Mambas that gained promotion into PSL in 2010, forms the core ZRP football team who are the current holders of the converted SARPCCO Games,” Ndlovu said.
He paid tribute to Police Commissioner, Augustine Chihuri, for boosting the way the police force interacts with the public through participation in sport.
