Highlanders let slip a first-half lead to settle for a 1-1 draw against relegation rivals Yadah Stars in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash at Barbourfields Stadium.
Bosso, desperate for maximum points, looked set for victory after Reason Sibanda fired them ahead in the 23rd minute. Melikhaya Ncube’s defense-splitting pass left Sibanda with only the keeper to beat and he coolly slotted home to send the Soweto stand into song.
The Miracle Boys, however, refused to die. Second-half substitute Jerry Chipangura made an instant impact, tucking the equaliser past Ariel Sibanda in the 69th minute, just three minutes after coming on.
Highlanders dominated the opening stanza with Mvelo Khoza delivering dangerous corners, while Benjamin Adeogun rattled the side netting before the break. Yadah came close when Ariel Makopa’s header crashed against the crossbar.
The second half saw Bosso retreat and pay the price. Captain Andrew Mbeba limped off injured at halftime, and the Bulawayo giants lost their grip on the game.
Prince Ndlovu and Brighton Ncube both fluffed late chances, while Chipangura almost punished Bosso again in the 89th minute but fired wide with only the keeper to beat.
Highlanders fans left Barbourfields frustrated as two points slipped away in their battle for survival.
For Yadah, the away point could prove priceless in their own fight at the bottom end of the log.
Final Score: Highlanders 1-1 Yadah Stars.
