HIGHLANDERS Football Club are expected to announce their final 2014 squad next week even though the giants are still negotiating with a number of potential players among them Chan poster boy Kudakwashe Mahachi and Charles Sibanda.
Also within the Mbada Diamonds Cup winners’ radar is former skipper, hardman Zephania Ngodzo who sources say wants a five-year contract and former Dynamos skipper Chamunoda Musanhu’s younger brother Witness Musanhu who has been training with the Bulawayo giants since the arrival of head coach Kelvin Kaindu.

He is said to be doing well so far and is likely to be included in the 25 member squad next week.
Ngodzo’s reunion with the Bulawayo giants is almost but confirmed.

“We don’t want to make the same mistake we did last year when we left it too late to announce our squad. This time we should be able to do it at least two weeks before the season starts or even much earlier,” said Amahlolanyama coach Kaindu during an interview last Friday.

Even before the season starts, Highlanders are clearly focused on claiming every silverware that will be on offer this year and if all their deals come through, they will have a formidable squad this year.

“Negotiations with all our targeted players are going on very smoothly, we are engaged with their handlers and so far it really points to a positive outcome,” said Highlanders chairman Peter Dube who is seeking his first league title as chairman of the club.

He however did not name the players they are negotiating  with but confirmed that Sibanda and dribbling wizard Mahachi were among the players that Kaindu wants to have in his 2014 squad.

“I am positive that once they arrive from the African Nations Championship in South Africa we will be able to seal everything. At the moment our negotiators are in talks with the targeted players’ representatives and like I said, it’s all promising,” said Dube.
The Warriors’ Chan squad arrived back home last night.

Bosso have since sealed goalkeeper Njabulo Nyoni, Khumbulani Banda, Welcome Ndiweni, Joel Ngodzo and Valetine Ndaba’s deals. All but Ngodzo have signed two-year deals with the club.
