HIGHLANDERS FC developmental side Bosso90 captain King Khumalo has opened up on his first season with the club.
The versatile 22-year-old defender, who can also play as a defensive midfielder, joined the team at the beginning of the season after a short stint with former Premier Soccer League outfit Bulawayo City
His leadership qualities have not gone unnoticed as he also assumed the captain’s role at Bosso 90. “I never thought that I would become the team’s captain at this early stage but I believe it is because of how much the coaches believe in me.
We have very talented players in the team and I respect them a lot.
It’s still just like the first time when I joined the club,” said Khumalo. The defender imposes his physical presence in defence and according to his teammates, he is endowed with a Sergio Ramos type of combative play.
The steely Khumalo marvels at Highlanders first team player Brighton Manhire, a midfielder enforcer who has continued to shine in Bosso colours.
“I believe we have similar qualities with Manhire. He can release long range effective passes and he is a tough defensive midfielder hence, I learn a lot from him.
It is also very easy because I also engage with him every now and then,” said Khumalo who missed his side’s last three league matches due suspension.
