Boxing authorities ‘to review footage’ of KSI’s controversial knockout

Boxing authorities are expected to review footage of KSI’s controversial knockout victory over Joe Fournier on Saturday night.

The YouTuber-turned-professional boxer continued his rise through the ranks by knocking his 40-year-old opponent out in the second round of their bout at the OVO Arena, Wembley.

KSI landed a huge overhand right in the second before going in for the finish. A scrappy exchange saw him miss with his right hook but still manage to put Fournier on the floor.

Replays showed it was in fact a clean elbow that left Fournier dazed and unable to beat the count.

And the Daily Mail now reports boxing authorities will analyse the footage before making a decision as to whether the Sidemen star’s win was legitimate. If found to have used an illegal elbow, it’s claimed KSI’s victory will instead be scored a no-contest.

The 29-year-old got off to a dominant start by tagging Fournier with a right hand. Fourier had already slipped onto the canvas in the opening round, showing signs of pressure before the devastating blow handed him his first defeat.

KSI was seemingly unaware of his elbow in the post-fight interview, insisting it was an overhand right that did the damage.

“I hit him with a massive shot,” KSI said. “He was dazed and scrambling, trying to hold onto me for dear life.”

Yet Fournier slammed the illegal strike, saying: “I know you’re fighting the promotion, I know maybe the judges might be in their favour, but for the ref to let a clear elbow… it’s been replayed a million times around the world.

“A clear elbow and then they count me out on the elbow. He should be disqualified. That should be a clear win for me.” Daily Star.
