HARARE City Women’s volleyball team started their 2023 Harare Volleyball League campaign on a high note after winning both their encounters at Support Unit in the capital on Saturday.

The last league’s bronze medallists accounted for AFC and defending champions, Support Unit, in identical 3-1 victories.

Support Unit then dismissed AFC 3-1 to win their first match of the season.

In the men’s category, there was no joy for the Citizens as they went down 2-3 to Support Unit and a shocking 0-3 defeat to Bindura Volleyball Club (BVC).

In other matches, Old Hararians lost 0-3 to Black Rhinos, while BVC lost 0-3 to NABA.

The league continues into week two next weekend at a venue to be advised.
