A Grade Seven pupil has been arrested in Zaka on allegations of killing a four-year-old at Goko Primary School last Wednesday.
The 14-year-old boy was fighting with a classmate aged 13, when he threw a stone which hit the victim on the head.
Investigations revealed that the boy missed his intended target and hit the victim who died on the spot.
The boy was arrested and released into the custody of his parents as investigations into the case continue.
National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the incident.
“The ZRP is investigating a case in which a 14-year-old grade seven pupil killed a four-year-old ECD pupil at Goko Primary School, Zaka on February 16, 2022.
“The suspect fatally struck the victim on the head with a stone after missing the intended target, a 13-year-old classmate, whom he was fighting with.
“The suspect has been arrested and released into the custody of his parents while the victim’s body was taken to Masvingo General Hospital for post-mortem,” he said.
Recently, a 15-year-old boy was arrested on allegations of killing a friend during a “kick boxing” contest while they were herding cattle in Gokwe.
The boy who was also released into the custody of his parents is assisting police with investigations.
Police said the boy allegedly kicked his friend also aged 15 in the groin area who then fell down and started sweating.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he later died after his condition deteriorated.
