A 14-year-old boy from Chitungwiza will receive two strokes of the cane for sodomising his tenant’s grandchild aged five. He pleaded guilty to indecent assault charges. The five-year-old boy sold out his assailant to his grandmother by telling her how he was abused by her landlord’s son. Chitungwiza regional magistrate Mrs Estere Chivasa, sentenced the boy to corporal punishment with a wholly suspended two-year jail term for five years.
In passing sentence, Mrs Chivasa took into account the age difference between the two with the victim who was only four-years-old at the time the offence was committed.
“The minor will suffer the psychological trauma for the rest of his life and the act is unacceptable to the society,” said Mrs Chivasa.
Prosecutor Ms Karen Kunaka, told the court that on November 14 last year at around 5pm, the 14-year-old took the minor to his room.
Whilst inside, the 14-year-old sodomised the minor and later freed him after the act.
The matter was reported to the police leading to the boy’s arrest.
