Boy (17) robs students of US$2640

A 17-year-old boy from Zimre Park in Ruwa allegedly posed to be a member of the Junior Parliament and defrauded high school students of US$2 640.
The juvenile who cannot be named for ethical reasons has appeared before a Harare magistrate facing a charge of fraud. He was remanded out of custody to 5 September and will be under the care of his guardian.
Allegations against the suspect are that sometime in July 2024, he posed as a member of the Junior Parliament and promised students an opportunity to join the Junior Motivators Southern African Development Community (SADC) parliament programme.
He charged the students US$62 for registration and uniforms and US$50 for a camping trip to Domboshava Resort. The suspect disappeared after receiving payments from the students. The amount stolen is US$2640 and nothing was recovered.
