Boyfriend stabbed over pregnancy

A MUTARE woman is in trouble with the law after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend with a knife after he refused responsibility for her pregnancy.

Odette Nyampala (30) on Monday appeared before Mutare magistrate, Mr Poterai Gwezhira facing charges of contravening Section 4 as read with Section 3(1)(a) of the Domestic Violence Act Chapter5: 16.

She pleaded not guilty. It was the State`s case that on January 8, Marshal Ndongwe was at his place of residence when Nyampala arrived in the company of her two sisters and their husbands.

They introduced themselves to him and were allowed to enter his house to discuss further. However, the court heard that a misunderstanding arose resulting in the accused person attacking the complainant with a knife.

She was remanded out of custody and the matter goes for trial on January 27. Mr Brian Goto prosecuted.
