BPA to hold Dziko tourney

THE Bulawayo Pool Association (BPA) will stage the Peter Dziko Memorial Tournament at the Dawn Restaurant Special in Bulawayo tomorrow.

This will be the fifth edition held in honour of Dziko, who was instrumental in the growth of the game of pool in the city.

Eight teams will participate in the competition set to attract top pool players in the city.

The late Dziko was a renowned master of the billiards, who nurtured young pool players and was instrumental in formation of the Bulawayo Pool Association (BPA).

Lobengula Sharks from Bulawayo won the first edition of the memorial tournament in 2017.

Last year, 50 players took part in the fourth edition won by Clemence Gutse, with Ashton Moyo and Terrence Mhindu finishing as runners-up.

“As opposed to a singles players’ tournament that we had last year, we are going to have an eight-team contest. It is an open invitation, but on a first come first serve basis,” said one of the late Dziko’s sons Osbornewells.

Registration is US$30 per team and the tournament will be played in three doubles and six singles format. — @innocentskizoe
