THE Brahma Kumaris in Zimbabwe is inviting the public to an event marking their 50 years of serving Africa. The event will be held at the Zimbabwe Academy of Music in Bulawayo on June 24 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Renowned motivational speaker Sis Shivani will speak at the event.
In a statement, Brahma Kumaris representative, Urvashi Vitals, said that the mission of their organisation is to improve the quality of life of individuals and their communities at large through the education of life values.
“We are part of the network of Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual Organisation, which has a presence in 133 countries with over 9 000 branches. Our regional headquarters for Africa is in Nairobi, Kenya. Ours is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to improve the quality of life of individuals and communities at large through the education of life values. We are not affiliated to any particular or specific religious practice or denomination,” said Urvashi.
Urvashi further stated that the organisation has in the past successfully held programmes and projects of peace. “We have conducted some successful programmes and projects such as Million Minutes of Peace, Write to God, Meditation Retreats, Resonance Retreats for Musicians, Heal the World Initiative and Pause for Peace, to increase the awareness of practical virtues and values in life.
“From its beginning in Lusaka, Zambia, on October 2, 1974, the Brahma Kumaris have reached a memorable milestone of the 50th year of its continuous service in Africa. To celebrate this significant achievement, we are organising several events, across our branches in Africa, until the 2nd of October 2024. The theme for the 50th anniversary is ‘Love, Peace and Unity – Key to Success’.
“In Zimbabwe, we are in the process of arranging a variety of events, workshops, talks and programmes to showcase this theme to the people of our nation,” explained Urvashi.
