The Brahma Kumaris will next week host internationally renowned spiritual teacher and meditation expert Charlie Hogg in Bulawayo for a public talk aimed at promoting inner peace, emotional wellbeing and positive living.

The event, themed Awakening Inner Power and Peace, is scheduled for May 15 at the Zimbabwe Academy of Music starting at 5PM.

Organisers said the visit is part of the organisation’s ongoing efforts to empower individuals and communities through spiritual education, meditation and value-based learning.

The Brahma Kumaris is a global non-profit movement that offers free courses in positive thinking, stress management, personal development and Raja Yoga meditation.

Hogg, who has been on a spiritual journey for more than four decades, is the National Coordinator and Chief Executive of Brahma Kumaris Australia and also chairs the organisation’s board of directors. Based in Sydney, Australia, he regularly travels across the world conducting conferences, retreats, seminars and public talks focusing on spirituality, meditation and emotional wellbeing.

“He has visited more than 80 countries, sharing practical approaches to maintaining mental, emotional and spiritual wellness in a world increasingly affected by stress, anxiety, depression and social pressures,” said a member of the organising committee.

According to information released by the organisation, Hogg began meditating after reflecting deeply on humanity’s impact on society, the environment and the future of the planet. He believes spirituality plays a critical role in helping people navigate the pressures of modern life while gaining a deeper understanding of themselves.

Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, Hogg was studying architecture at university before embarking on a journey across Asia, the Middle East and Europe in search of deeper spiritual meaning. During his travels, he lived among Buddhist, Christian, Sikh, Muslim, Hindu and Taoist communities.

He later encountered the Brahma Kumaris in London in 1975, where he learnt meditation before returning to Australia in 1977 to establish a meditation centre in Melbourne.

“Over the years, Hogg has addressed audiences at international conferences, universities, medical institutions and interfaith gatherings in countries including India, Pakistan, Thailand, China, the United States, Malaysia and the Philippines. His recent engagements have focused on topics such as forgiveness, overcoming fear, stress management, self-care and finding courage during difficult times. The Bulawayo event is expected to attract people from diverse backgrounds interested in spirituality, meditation and personal growth.”
