A RESURGENT and bubbling Brazil will seek to prove that their famous 3-1 win over Ingagula at home last weekend was no fluke as the two sides clash in a return match at Chakona Stadium tomorrow afternoon. The fact that many teams have come out empty handed at Ingagula’s home ground this season points to a big crowd during this clash as many fans would want to witness the “rebirth” of the old Brazil FC brand as witnessed last weekend.
The Moses Phiri-coached outfit, boosted by new signings from defunct clubs Kabwe Warriors and Classic Luyando, will however have to move mountains during the second half of the season to catapult themselves from the basement of the table where they are stuck at five points from 16 games.
At Chinotimba Stadium in Victoria Falls, second placed Amagagasi will be praying that their neighbours Zambezi Lions will be able to shut out marauding Makomo FC strikers when the sides clash in an early kick off return match.
Lions were massacred 5-0 by Makomo last weekend in Hwange and only a football miracle will see them come out of the match with something as the likes of Richard Mwalugale, Loyd Chimuchenga and Shepherd Mwale have proven to be a thorn in the flesh for many defenders in this league.
After that match, a cliffhanger contest is expected as league title dark horses Victoria Falls Tigers and Moto Moto lock horns at the same venue.
Moto Moto prevailed 1-0 in the return match at the coal mining town and the soldiers will go into the match with guns blazing as they seek to jump into fourth place.
Nkonzani Nkomo who has proved to be a ruthless fighter when Moto Moto launch an attack in any game will be the man to shut out.
At Madumabisa, Fire FC will look to complete a double over Corinthians’ whom they edged 2-1 at their own Victoria Falls backyard.
ZRP Hwange have an easy task to stay within shouting distance from the top with another win when they meet Hwange Under-17s who have had a miserable season so far.
On Sunday at Old Stadium, Iwisa will host Blackrock.
Their first encounter at Sports Pavilion ended goalless despite being played at a cracking pace.
Clifford Phiri, who missed a spot kick last week and Blessed Njekwa are Blackrock’s trumpcards while Moses Gama and Dani “Godomski” Ngoma carry Iwisa’s hopes.
Another tense derby is in store for the soccer crazy Victoria Falls residents as second placed Amagagasi and Classic Luyando lock horns at Chinotimba Stadium.
