PRETORIA University goalkeeper Washington Arubi says he is ready for the new Absa Premier Soccer League season. Arubi is in his third season with the Pretoria outfit after being signed from Dynamos two years ago. The national team acrobatic goalie believes his stint and experience gained in the PSL would be vital in helping his team compete for a top four finish.
Arubi said AmaTuks would be fired up this season especially since the coach had not made many changes to the previous team. It is always a challenge to play with new players especially when the team is eyeing to end the season in a respectable position.
The former Dynamos goalkeeper told Chronicle Sport: “I’m well prepared and I was cautious about my diet during the off-season and I did a lot of jogging which was an advantage when we started our pre-season training almost two weeks ago.
“I’m delighted that all of us came back fit and our coach Steve Barker has been giving us a lot of training and he even told us that we must not put any pressure on ourselves whenever we play games.
“What amazes me about our coach is that he brought a new philosophy of how to approach games and gave us some confidence.”
Arubi said that he is more than enjoying his pre-season training and wants to emulate his past season’s achievements with the team.
