MDC-T organising secretary for Bulawayo Mr Albert Mhlanga yesterday encouraged party supporters to use any means necessary to win the forthcoming elections even if it means breaking the law.Mr Mhlanga made the stunning remarks at the official launch of Bulawayo provincial chairman, Mr Gorden Moyo’s campaign for the Makokoba National Assembly seat at Macdonald Hall in Mzilikazi.

He said party members could break the law because MDC-T had the best legal brains to represent them in court.
“We have one of the best lawyers in the party, Mr Kucaca Phulu. Our lawyer has said laws are there, but they can be broken. If anyone gets into trouble during campaigns, they should not worry because there is a legal department to deal with issues.

All that needs to be done is to write a letter to the provincial secretary (Mr Reggie Moyo the party’s aspiring legislator for Luveve Constituency). All will be sorted out,” said Mr Mhlanga, drawing applause from the crowd.

He said people who often said all the educated party members left and joined the Professor Welshman Ncube MDC were misguided as MDC-T had lawyers and doctors.

“We have strong legal representation and other learned people who include Dr Ruth Labode, Dr Mandla Nyathi and Dr Samuel Sipepa Nkomo,” said Mr Mhlanga.

When Mr Gorden Moyo took to the podium, he further shocked the audience by equating MDC-T leader Mr Morgan Tsvangirai to God.
“When you campaign and when you go to vote, you must always remember the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit — Tsvangirai, myself and the councillor for Makokoba.

This should be your song in whatever you do be it passing around a calabash at a beer drink or cleaning at your homes,” said Mr Moyo.
Party members were momentarily stunned into silence at the apparent blasphemy before an energetic group of party youths led them to applause.
Mr Moyo promised his supporters a new Government on 1 August.

“Things shall change with effect from 1 August 2013. We shall bring parliament to Bulawayo and decentralise all services to provinces and open the more than 100 factories that have been closed in Bulawayo. Morgan changed the country by putting one foot into the Government in 2009. Imagine what he could do if he had the reins of power,” said Mr Moyo.

He urged the people of Makokoba Constituency to turn out in large numbers to vote for MDC-T on 31 July.
The party’s deputy president, Ms Thokozani Khupe, who controversially vacated the Makokoba seat for Mr Moyo, told supporters that the election was a mere formality as Mr Tsvangirai had already won.

“The election is like a delayed soccer match. We already know the result. The election has been done already. 31 July is a formality as Tsvangirai won long ago,” declared Ms Khupe.

Ironically, the MDC-T has been complaining to Sadc that the polls could be rigged in favour of Zanu-PF.
The party observed a minute of silence in honour of Mr Mackenzie Julius Sibanda, the Mzilikazi councillor who died of suspected poisoning recently.

Among the party officials that attended the event was Mr Thamsanqa Mahlangu the party’s candidate for Nkulumane, academic Dr Mandla Nyathi, Ms Dorcas Sibanda who will represent the party in Bulawayo Central, Mr James Sithole the party’s council candidate for Makokoba and Dr Labode, the former provincial medical director for Matabeleland North.
