THE Premier Soccer League has been left with an egg on the face after FIFA on Tuesday shot down the proposal to have a 20-team division.
Highly placed sources in Zimbabwe football confirmed that the proposal had been shot down.
The PSL had on Tuesday announced that there would be no relegation next year. This would have left the League with 22 teams with six to be relegated in 2026 to leave 20 to compete in 2027.
With the FIFA position, the eight relegation threatened clubs will have all to fight for this weekend.
Zifa had last week asked PSL to consider increasing the number of teams to 20.
The recommendation had seemed a populist stance to protect Dynamos and Highlanders who are facing the chop.
