FORMER Bulawayo deputy mayor Gift Banda has joined Zanu-PF after leaving the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).
Banda was officially welcomed into the ruling party during a Matabeleland South Thank You Rally following the passing of Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3 (CAA3).
The rally was held in Gwanda.
He was received by Politburo members Cde Richard Ndlovu and Cde Abedinico Ncube; the Matabeleland South
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Cde Albert Nguluvhe, who is also the Zanu-PF provincial vice-chairman; and the party’s provincial chairman, Cde Mangaliso Ndlovu, who is also the Minister of Industry and Commerce. Central Committee members and party supporters were also present to welcome him.
Speaking at the event, Banda declared his full support for Zanu-PF and Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3, saying it would help drive the political and economic development the country requires.
He said his decision to join Zanu-PF was motivated by a desire to contribute to the national vision of transforming Zimbabwe into an upper middle-income economy by 2030.
Banda also expressed his appreciation to the party leadership for the warm reception extended to him.
While ZANU-PF is a welcoming party for members defecting from non existent opposition like CCC, it must vet these newcomers. Some of them have tainted past.
