GOODS worth thousands of dollars were burnt to ashes this morning when the Glen View 8 Furniture Complex caught fire.
Some Glen View community members were awakened at around 0200hours by loud bangs of goods burning in large flames of fire while billowing smoke engulfed the area that accommodates an estimated 4000 carpenters and informal traders who are predominantly engaged in the manufacture and sale of various furniture products, including chairs, sofas, wardrobes, beds, and other timber-related products.
Three fire-fighting engines were already engaged in efforts to contain and extinguish the blaze believed to have started at the centre of the complex popularly known as Kumakitchen.
