THE Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has been plunged into mourning after tragedy struck at a referees’ training seminar where a female participant lost her infant child.
The heartbreaking incident occurred when the woman, who had attended the seminar with her two children, suddenly lost her baby during the course of the day. Despite frantic efforts to save the child, the infant could not be revived.
ZIFA confirmed the tragedy in a statement, saying the matter has since been referred to the Zimbabwe Republic Police who are now handling it.
The association said it is fully cooperating with authorities while also extending support to the grieving mother.
“As an Association, we extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family and respectfully ask that their privacy be observed,” ZIFA said.
Funeral arrangements and further details will be released in due course.
