A QUIET Beitbridge suburb was turned into a crime scene when a couple was found dead in their home, their bodies riddled with gunshot wounds in what police suspect could be a murder-suicide.
The chilling discovery was made on Thursday in the town’s Medium Density suburb when police found Nyasha Madenyika (32) and her lover Farai Prosper Longwe (34) lying motionless in their bedroom.
According to a police statement, Nyasha had been shot on the cheek while Farai had a gunshot wound on the right side of his ear.
“The ZRP is investigating a murder case involving a couple, Nyasha Madenyika (32) and Farai Prosper Longwe (34), whose bodies were found lying in a room at their residence in Medium Density, Beitbridge, on 11 September 2025,” read the statement.
Police say they recovered a Smith and Wesson revolver from the scene, still clutched in Farai’s right hand.
“The revolver was loaded with three live rounds. We also recovered three spent cartridges and 36 live rounds,” the police said.
Shocked neighbours described the couple as quiet and private, saying they had never suspected any trouble brewing behind closed doors.
“We just heard loud bangs around midnight, but we thought they were firecrackers. We only realised it was gunshots when police arrived,” said one resident who requested anonymity.
The motive behind the tragedy remains unclear, but investigators are working around the clock to piece together what led to the fatal shooting.
“More details will be revealed as investigations unfold,” said police.
The deaths have left Beitbridge residents shaken, with many speculating whether this was a case of a lovers’ quarrel gone wrong or something far more sinister.
