HIGHLANDERS star Mongameli Tshuma has joined HardRock.
Mongameli, who had long been expected to move to CAPS United, is said to have agreed to join the Kwekwe-based side next year, with an agreement between the two clubs now sealed.
The deal brings an end to speculation around the player, who has shown great artistry in black and white since the beginning of the season.
CAPS United were the first to make a move and it is believed negotiations were advanced before the recent and unfortunate death of three members of the Bosso executive.
In recent days, HardRock moved swiftly to sign the player as part of their 2027 plans.
Efforts to get official comment were fruitless on Monday night, but a source close to the negotiations confirmed it was a done deal.
“The club knew what they wanted and they have their player. It was never about what the other clubs were doing.
“The idea is to assemble a formidable side next season and Monga will be an important player in those plans,” said the source.
Before the latest development, CAPS United had a bid on the table and the Highlanders executive had also named their price.
Indications from the CAPS United side are that Bosso had agreed to lower their demands of more than US$250,000 for a deal that would see the player being loaned back to Highlanders, with salaries paid by CAPS United for the rest of the season.
It remains unclear if CAPS United made an effort to follow up in the past week, before their showdown with Bosso when Mongameli was a menace despite the Green Machine’s win.
Instead, HardRock have won the battle.
HardRock have shown real intent in their debut season in the Premiership.
During the mid-season break, they also signed Warriors players Gerald Takwara and Prince Dube, among others, signings that shocked many in the Premiership.
And with the team just two points behind log leaders Scottland, who however have a match in hand, there is increasing belief that the title race this season could be one for the archives.
