THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has made a breakthrough in investigations into the murder of Bulawayo businessman Tedious Rutanhira, with two suspects linked to the case killed in a shoot-out with police and four others arrested.
Rutanhira (52) was shot dead during an armed robbery in Bulawayo on Monday, and police on Friday confirmed the death of popular Insuza businessman Mehluli “Mamba” Ncube (45), who was allegedly linked to the case.
Ncube died alongside Muzi Richard Fambirai Moyo (45) during the shoot-out, while Shelton Jubane (37), Charles Ndlovu (52), Prince Chisale and Clive Ncube (27) were arrested.
“The ZRP confirms a shoot-out incident involving the suspects linked to the case resulting in the death of Mehluli Ncube (45) alias Mamba as well as Muzi Richard Fambirai Moyo (45) and the subsequent arrest of Shelton Jubane (37), Charles Ndlovu (52), Prince Chisale and Clive Ncube (27),” said the police in a statement.
The suspects are also linked to 10 cases of armed robbery in Bulawayo and surrounding areas, according to the ZRP.
“A detailed statement will be released on 19 September 2026,” said the police.
Ncube was a prominent figure in Insuza, where he owned lodges and shops and supplied bricks.
He was also involved in sponsoring sporting activities, particularly football, and hosted live music shows at his businesses, attracting a number of artistes.
Ncube was reportedly a close friend of another Tsholotsho businessman, Ndumiso Sibanda, who was gunned down in South Africa last year.
