THE Minister of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Water Resources Development Dr Anxious Masuka is set to tour the Cold Storage Company (CSC) and Delta Corporation plant in Bulawayo to assess developments at the two industrial facilities, including production capacity, operational performance and investment initiatives.
The visit is expected to provide an opportunity to assess progress in the country’s industrial and agricultural value chains, particularly the contribution of local companies towards strengthening domestic production, value addition and economic growth.
This comes as CSC has doubled its daily cattle slaughter capacity over the past six months following funding from the Mutapa Investment Fund, as the state-owned meat processor steps up efforts to revive operations and reclaim its position in Zimbabwe’s beef industry.
It has embarked on an extensive refurbishment programme, upgrading processing facilities and cold storage infrastructure to improve operational efficiency and increase production.
While, Delta Corporation is also on an expansion drive to increase production capacity. The company has said it remains firmly on course, although slightly behind schedule to finish up construction of the new brewhouse and a packaging line in Bulawayo to meet growing demand.
The brewhouse and packaging line are expected to be commissioned before the end of the year.
Zimbabwe’s largest beverage group has two beer production plants in Bulawayo, the Chibuku Super plant in Fairbridge and the Lager Brewery in Belmont.
