Herald Reporter—
PRESIDENT Mugabe yesterday met Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) Commander General Constantino Guveya Chiwenga at State House in Harare. The meeting, that was also attended by South African envoys comprising Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and State Security Minister Bongani Bongo, was also attended by Roman Catholic cleric Father Fidelis Mukonori, Defence Minister Sydney Sekeramayi, State Security Minister Kembo Mohadi, Air Vice Marshal Elson Moyo, Permanent Secretary for Information, Media and Broadcasting Services George Charamba, among others.

Details of the meeting were not available at the time of publishing as the parties remained tight-lipped.
The ZDF on Wednesday announced they had taken action to pacify the degenerating political, social and economic situation in the country which they said if left unchecked would have resulted in violent conflict as they emphasised that their action was not a military takeover as they wanted to flush out reactionary and criminal elements around the President.
