Those who appreciate poetry and a good cup of coffee need to clear up their schedules tomorrow as a coffee-tasting and spoken-word poetry event has been organised.
The event will take place at Coffee and Juice Café in Bulawayo in a cozy and intimate space that will provide an ideal setting for guests to enjoy an evening of creative expression, delicious coffee, and stimulating conversation. The show in the evening will be hosted by Sox the Poet with performances from Thandoe, Sibo, Thaluso Da Poet and Priscynth.
A first of its kind, the event has been dubbed “Brewed in verse”.
Coffee and Juice Café brand manager, Haniel Nyauta of Haniel Creates said the essence of the event is to give up-and-coming poets a platform to express their talents.
“The objective of the event is to offer a platform for emerging spoken word poets to showcase their talents and connect with a supportive community of fellow artists and coffee lovers.
“The event aims to promote the art of spoken word poetry and the culture of coffee, while also fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity among the guests,” Nyauta said.
He said the audience should expect an interactive event.
“Attendees can expect to indulge in the rich aroma and smooth taste of premium coffee blends while immersing themselves in the rhythmic cadence of spoken word. The event offers a unique opportunity to discover new flavours and perspectives in a creative and intimate setting,” he said.
Preparations for the event, Nyauta said are at an advanced stage as they are working tirelessly to ensure the event becomes a success.

“Preparations for this one-of-a-kind event are in full swing, with organisers working diligently to ensure a seamless and unforgettable experience for attendees. With the promise of a sensory journey that will awaken the soul, ‘Brewed in Verse’ is not to be missed,” Nyauta said.
He said the event is set to be held monthly.
Of late, many platforms for spoken word are being initiated to give poets a place to showcase their talent. – @TashaMutsiba.
