Bribery lands health worker in jail

A MINISTRY of Health and Childcare employee at Homedale Clinic Chegutu who issued a fake Medical certificate in exchange for US$10 has been sentenced to 20 months in jail.

Senior Field Orderly Kenneth Mudhara (31) will serve 10 months behind bars after 10 months were suspended.

In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said: “Sometime in January 2024 the accused person who is employed by the Ministry of Health and Childcare as a Senior Field Orderly at Homedale Clinic, Selous, Chegutu approached Ordinate Muvirimi and offered to assist him in obtaining a food handlers Medical Certificate without following due procedure. On the 30th of January 2024, the accused person presented a Medical Certificate in the name of Ordinate Muvirimi purporting to have been signed by a medical officer at Chegutu District Hospital. Investigations revealed that the accused person received US$10 for his services.”
