A 23-year-old man who after using a fake name to gain the trust of a 48-year-old woman who was old enough to be his mother, turned out to be a monster when he raped her at night at her home.
He was arrested and sentenced to 15 years in jail.
In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe said: “On the 26th of October 2023, around 0145 hours in Mupotedzi village, the accused person went to the complainant’s residence and knocked on the door. The complainant inquired about the visitor, and the accused person identified himself as Ray. When she opened the door the accused person grabbed her and forced her to the ground where they wrestled until he overpowered her. He raped the complainant once, before fleeing the scene. The complainant sought refuge at her brother’s house and later reported the incident to the police, resulting in the arrest of the accused person.”
