Brig-Gen Munemo dies

Brigadier-General Emilio Munemo has died. He was 64. Brig-Gen Munemo passed away on Sunday after a short illness. Zimbabwe Defence Forces spokesperson Colonel Overson Mugwisi confirmed Brig-Gen Munemo’s death in a Press statement yesterday.

“The late General Officer was a veteran of the Zimbabwe liberation struggle,” he said. “After independence, he had an illustrious career in the Zimbabwe National Army.

“He was instrumental in the establishment of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces’ Civil Military Relations Department.”

Brig-Gen Munemo was the Director-General Civil Military Relations at the ZDF Headquarters.

“A funeral parade for the late General Officer will be held at Charles Gumbo (formerly Cranborne) Barracks on a date to be advised,” said Col Mugwisi.

“Burial arrangements will also be advised in due course.” Brig-Gen Munemo is survived by nine children and seven grandchildren. Mourners are gathered at No. 48 Alexandra Drive, Hatfield, in Harare.
