VENDA Academy midfielder, Tatenda Tavengwa, feels their Nedbank Cup fixture against Orlando Pirates will be the highlight of his career.

The Limpopo side are visiting the Buccaneers with the hope of causing an upset.

Pirates are in fine form in the DStv Premiership and are sitting third on the standings.

Venda Academy are in the South Africa’s Motsepe Foundation Championship and they are also home t so E admore Chirambadare.

At least, three Zimbabweans are expected to play a huge role in this battle.

The Soweto giants have Terence Dzvukamanja, who is enjoying a decent season at the club.

The 25-year-old Tavengwa, a defensive midfielder, made his first foreign breakthrough this season from CAPS United.

The club have changed coaches four times but the deadlocked anchorman has not been deterred.

He was not in action in last weekend’s 1-1 draw against the University of Pretoria due to suspension.

“It’s a big game for us, we are playing one of the country’s best teams and it means a lot to me,” said Tavengwa.

“We are not looking much on what they can do but our focus is to treat this match the same way which we have been treating our league games.

“But, the difference is that this is a knockout game and we can only progress to the next round of the competition by knocking out our opponents.”

He added: It has not been a difficult season for us and I believe playing against Pirates is a motivation on its own.

“It’s now eight games to go before the season ends and our target is to survive relegation and go as far as possible in the Nedbank Cup.”

Orlando Pirates have not been kind to the lower league teams in this competition.
