A HARARE man, who had an altercation with his wife over US$1, ended up fondling the breasts of his sister when she intervened in the dispute.
Margaret Takazu told a court in the capital yesterday that her brother Edmore abused her when she stopped him from assaulting his wife.
Margret approached the Harare Civil Court and was granted a protection order by magistrate Meenal Naratom.
The magistrate ordered Edmore to stop abusing his sister and also ordered Margaret to stop interfering in her brother’s marital issues.
Margret told the court:
“My brother is always assaulting his wife and each time I try to reprimand him, he pours his frustration on me.
“Recently, when he had an altercation with his wife over US$1, he fondled my breasts.
“When I asked him why he did it, he asked me to mind my own business and stop interfering in his marital issues.
“As his older sibling, l couldn’t watch him assault his wife like that.”
She added:
“The only crime I committed was to talk sense to Edmore.
“I don’t know his next move after he fondled my breasts, I want protection against him. I no longer trust him because we share the same house.”
Edmore said he fondled his sister’s breasts by mistake.
“It was never my intention to fondle her because l was having a heated argument with my wife.
“Each time I try to reprimand my wife, she interferes, takes sides with her and so, on this day, things happened very quickly.
“If she wants peace then she should stop interfering in my business with my wife, my marriage does not concern her.
“The dollar in question is not hers but it was a debt I owed my wife and she wanted her money back.
“I gave my wife her dollar and she wanted me to add more money, which l refused, and this led to the assault.”
