TWO abusive brothers who allegedly took turns to assault a woman married to one of them yesterday appeared in court facing murder charges after the woman succumbed to injuries they inflicted.
Appearing yesterday before Western Commonage magistrate Willard Maphios Moyo charged with the murder of Nomsa Marangarire was Lincoln and Layton Namasasi of house numbers 30082 and 31205 Entumbane, Bulawayo.
Marangarire was Lincoln’s wife and Layton’s sister-in-law.
The siblings who were not asked to plead were remanded out of custody to April 16 on $50 bail each.
The two brothers who are represented by Nonhlanhla Moyo of SKM Sibanda and Partners, were ordered to reside at their given addresses, not to interfere with State witnesses and to report to police once a week.
According to the notice for remand form, at Lincoln’s house at a date unknown to the prosecutor but late last year, Layton had a misunderstanding with Marangarire resulting in him assaulting her with fists and booted feet all over her body and on the head.
In March this year, Lincoln also had a misunderstanding with Marangarire and assaulted her all over her body.
He only sought medical attention for her when her condition deteriorated on March 27.
Marangarire then died the following day on March 28 from injuries sustained from the two assaults.
Evidence linking the siblings with the murder of Marangarire is based on the postmortem results which indicated that her death was caused by head injuries and trauma from possible assault.
Also the deceased’s sisters indicated to the police that Marangarire told them the brothers had assaulted her.
Kingstone Mkanganwi is representing the State.
