Witchcraft allegations have seen a Marange family’s members turning into sworn enemies, with death threats now taking centre stage.
The Mabika siblings no longer see eye-to-eye.
Trymore and his wife Pauline Mabika recently dragged Onai, Isau, Tendai, Shepherd and Lazarus Mabika to Mutare Civil Court as they applied for a protection order.
The matter was heard by Mutare magistrate, Mr Xavier Chipato, while the Mabika siblings were in default.
Trymore and Pauline said they were no longer enjoying peace at their home and were now living in fear for their lives following several attacks on them by the marauding Mabika siblings.
Trymore said the family feud started when some white garment prophets labelled him a wizard.
His siblings have since ganged up against him and are baying for his family’s blood.
The Mabika siblings are not relenting in their quest to mete instant justice on their brother as they have become frequent visitors to his homestead.
They always come armed with various weapons that include machetes and axes as they threaten to kill Trymore’s family.
“They regularly visit my home while stone drunk and armed with different weapons. They always threaten to kill my family and l. We no longer enjoy peace at our home. We are suffering both physically and emotionally at the hands of my siblings.
“Our children are also not spared. At times they run away from home to seek refuge elsewhere as they fear for their lives.
At times they miss school because of the endless threats from my siblings,” said Trymore.
He said his siblings have also destroyed his crops and vandalised his perimeter fence.
Testifying in court, Pauline said her in-laws are accusing her of being her husband’s partner in crime in the underworld of witchcraft.
She said she was also a recipient of the endless threats from her brothers-in-law.
“They accuse me of inciting my husband to apply for a protection order against them.
“I am now afraid of walking alone because of their threats. I am praying for protection from this court,” she said.
Mr Chipato granted the protection order to the couple.
The order, which will be valid for five years, bars the Mabika siblings from insulting, assaulting, threatening and disturbing Trymore and Pauline Mabika’s peace.
The siblings were also barred from visiting their brother’s homestead for the purposes of disturbing his family’s peace.
