Plumtree-based Afro Jazz sensation BS Brown is preparing to drop his first solo album on 19 October titled Selimathunzi, a project which promises to be exciting and enchanting.
Early this month, BS Brown teased Afro Jazz fanatics as he released a single titled Ukuthand’ Umuntu, which has been hailed as one of the best-composed songs by a Matabeleland artiste of late.

The single, which is an introduction to his main album to be dropped soon with eight tracks, was composed by BS Brown himself. He worked with Erastus Nleya as the producer under Loud Records and Reward Judah Ndlovu who is the artiste’s production manager.
On instrumentation, BS Brown credits Reward Ndlovu (keyboard), Erastus Nleya (drums), Mthabisi Moyo (lead guitar), as well as Ashley Ndlovu on bass guitar. On backing vocalists, he worked with Brilliant Sithole, Erastus Nleya and Progress Sibanda.
BS Brown said when penning the song, “I was inspired by love — that if you love your partner naturally you become jealous of him or her, hence, that’s true love. A healthy sexual relationship is supported by a pillar of true love and the lyrics on the song cements this fact.”
The artiste said he is happy Jazz lovers have received the song positively and it’s a good sign that they will also fall in love with other songs on his upcoming album. BS Brown started music when he was in Grade Six.

He used to perform Imbube music during school assembly sessions, church gatherings, weddings and other public events while growing up.
The muso said he was inspired by his father to do music who was also a musician during that time singing Imbube. His father was a Jazz music lover, hence, that’s where he developed a taste of Jazz.
Later in life, BS Brown would work with uGodlwayo Omuhle Black Union – an Imbube performing group from Filabusi from 2009 to 2012.
He bounced back in the music industry and went solo in 2023 after experiencing a weird dream.

“I decided to return to music and go solo in 2023, which is when a dream came to me saying that l have to record my music, which I had written many years back.
“In the dream, a voice told me that my music is important as it is a way of educating, sending positive messages to the public. I then recorded this upcoming album as a way of documenting my talent for legacy,” said BS Brown.
