BULAWAYO Social Soccer (BSSL) has made inroads into a number of communities around the city, an achievement which the league’s chairman Ntandoyenkosi Sibindi referred to as a milestone in its quest to unite communities in Bulawayo.
To date the league with 52 affiliated teams drawn from around Bulawayo is only left with a few communities in the high density suburbs which are yet to be consumed by its wave.
“Our league keeps on a growing, for us to have such a big number of teams affiliated to us is a milestone achievement in terms of our history.
However, there are a few areas which are still outside our net, we are hopeful that in the near future those missing communities which are Old Luveve, Chigumira area as well as Methodist to name but a few will “smell the coffee” and come on board.
“Plans are also underway to penetrate the eastern suburbs as well as we continue to grow our brand to be the biggest social soccer league in the city and in the country. At the same time negotiations with a number of corporate organisations for sponsorship are now at an advanced stage, we hope everything will go accordingly,” said Sibindi.
In addition to sponsorship, the BSSL chairman said the issue of self sustaining projects is still on the radar.
These projects are meant to enable the league to buy more assets in their pursuit of pushing further the legacy left behind by the founding father Chris “Zvidobi” Mhlanga as well as his friends.
According to the fixtures pushed out by the fixtures secretary Edson Sibanda, all the teams are in action this morning.
Meanwhile, the Bulawayo Amateur Football League resumes today, following a two-week mid-season break, with log leaders, Rebels hoping to extend their seven point lead at the top when they take on Safe Guard.
Rebels go into the second half atop the log standings and are yet to lose a match, having won 10 games and drew only one.
Second-placed Unity Village who have 24 points are inactive this weekend with Anolle Castings on position number three but at par on points with Unity Village having the chance to leapfrog the side when they battle Mat High City.
