Bucie, Heavy K beef simmers

The gloves are off between Bucie and DJ Heavy-K. While the princess of House music who scooped her first award ever at this year’s South African Music Awards (Samas) is basking in her glory, Heavy K who Bucie apparently forgot to acknowledge for producing her hit song, is nursing a broken heart.

Bucie walked away with the Female Artiste of the Year award and, during her acceptance speech, “forgot” to acknowledge Heavy-K for his contribution as the producer on her hit song, Easy to Love.

Heavy-K took to Twitter shortly after the Samas to express how disappointed he was over not being recognised by Bucie for his input.

“When I was watching the Samas I was heartbroken. I don’t make music for money. I didn’t charge a production fee for studio time or any of that. I made Easy to Love as a favour,” said Heavy K.

“I work hard to make whatever song I do a hit and that song was just that,” Heavy-K told Daily Sun.

The house DJ was so emotional about the debacle that he’s made a song, Broken Heart, which he released on social media this week, to further express his feelings.

This created a social media storm with people criticising Bucie calling her “ungrateful”. Even though the songbird’s record label has apparently apologised to Heavy-K, stating that it was not done intentionally, Bucie seems to feel no remorse.

In fact, the songbird has hit back at Heavy-K’s criticism saying that she won Best Female of the Year, for all the work she has done as an artiste over the year, and not just for one song.

“It was an award for Bucie as an artiste because I’ve been in the industry for so long. It was Female Artiste of the Year, it wasn’t Best Female Song or Best Female Album but Female Artiste,” Bucie said.

“It’s the work that I’ve been doing, work that I’ve been putting in my craft like waking up everyday, going to studio, going to shows, shooting videos,” she told Sowetan.

She added that she had finally been recognised for her hard work and was now confused by everything that is going on.

Bucie thanked her fans who she said have been supporting her from when she started her singing career. “One thing I’ve always wanted to do was to make sure that we produce good music that lasts, and music that my fans can listen to and even after 10 years, they can still listen to the same song and feel like they just started listen to it just now.”

She is working on a new album Easy To Love – Princess of House which she says is a continuation of her craft as the Princess of the house genre.

“My album (Easy To Love Princess of House) is coming out and I hope they do love it. I’m just gonna keep doing what I’ve been doing. I’m gonna keep growing every year, there’s no slowing down,” she said.

“The only difference is the quality of the voice, the quality of the music because it’s different years and every year there’s a new sound coming in.
