BUDIRIRO CULTURAL ARTS GRAB MASH WEST TICKET

MHANDE dance group, Budiriro Cultural Arts, will represent Mashonaland West at this year’s Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance finals.

The Kadoma-based group booked its spot at the provincial finals held at Yolanda Beer Hall in Chinhoyi at the weekend.

Chabvindoka Nyau dancers and Garawabika Gure Club were the first and second runners-up.

Budiriro Cultural Arts became the ninth group to challenge for the US$15 000 grand prize money in Masvingo on July 27.

To complete the preliminary rounds, the competition heads to Bulawayo for the final provincial showdown at Phekiwe Bar this Saturday.

Groups that have made it to this year’s national finals include Nyaungwe Dance Group (Mashonaland East), Bolamba (Matebeleland South), Pezhuba Pachena (Matebeleland North), Dzimbahwe Nengoma (Mashonaland Central), Gango (Masvingo), Mkango Malawi Nyau (Midlands), Dapurahunanzva (Manicaland) and Culture Warriors (Harare).

Some of the dances set to be showcased at this year’s finals include Dinhe, Mhande, Nyau, Chinyambera and Nsumbule, among others.
