A BUDIRIRO woman’s vehicle, groceries and cash were stolen from her home while she was at work on Tuesday.
Elizabeth Mandeya (58) found her Mazda Familia registration (AEB 9053), 32-inch Samsung TV set, US$800 and an assortment of groceries gone when she returned home from work.
Elizabeth and her daughter, Audrey Mandeya (26) are said to have locked the house before leaving for work at around 6am.
They returned from work at around 5.50pm and saw that thieves had vandalised the main gate to gain entry into the yard.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, said the thieves could have used the woman’s vehicle as a getaway car.
“Police are investigating robbery cases, among them a Budiriro woman who lost her car, cash and property during the day,” said Insp Chakanza.
“The thieves cut the screen door padlock, forced open the door to gain entry into the house.
“The thieves took the car keys which were on the shoe rack and used the vehicle which was parked in the yard as a getaway car,” said Insp Chakanza.
