Buffalo Souljahas asks ZimDancehall peers

ITaS a money game and Zimbabwean dancehall export to the world, Buffalo Souljah says local money man are stingy, hence domestic music is of a lesser quality.

Buffs, as his fans call him is based in South Africa where he has managed to dominate continentally because he is around people who invest real money in music.

a?If you really want the top African spot you will need to choose between driving a fancy beamer or investing in yourself which might feel risky for most artistes. Itas unfortunate for Zimbabwean artistes because rich people in the country are stingy unlike Nigerians because every successful Nigerian artiste has a Chairman Sponsor who sponsors his videos and public relations campaigns. They donat use their own funds,a? he said.

Buffs is one of only two Zimbabweans nominated for the annual African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMAs).

The third annual edition of the biggest African music awards in the diaspora are set to held in Dallas, Texas, United States of America on October 15, 2016.

While Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Flavour and Olamide led in the nomination statistics for the ceremomy, Buffalo Souljah and songbird Pah Chihera will fly the Zimbabwean flag at the ceremony.

The chanter broke down the finances required needed for one to strengthen their standing in South Africa.

a?Artistes need to invest in their careers only if they have any continental or international ambitions because this requires sacrifice.A Making high budget videos and paying publicists costs quite a lot. Just to push a song and video which includes radio sampling in SA and TV video drop offs might cost you $5 000 excluding the money you spent on your video shoot so all in all you are looking at close to $10 000 to really push a song,a? he said.

According to the chanter music is big business for him and he treats it as such.

a?For me making music and dropping videos constantly is like a shop owner keeping his shelves filled with products to sale,a? he said.
