ZIFA Eastern Region Division One league’s Buffaloes Juniors have been promoted to the Premier Soccer League. The Mutare based team won the ticket to be one of the PSL representatives in the Eastern Region by beating Mwenezana 3-1 in a match played in the Manicaland capital of Mutare on Sunday.

They went into the weekend neck to neck with second placed Mutare City and a brace by Vincent Makaha and one through veteran striker Evans Chikwaikwai was enough for them to finish the season with 67 points.

Mutare City ended the season with 65 points despite winning 3-1 against Gutu FC.

Buffaloes join Tsholotsho who qualified from the Southern Region, Flame Lilly from the Northern Region and Hwahwa Prison from the Central Region.

Meanwhile, ZIFA Eastern Region chairman Piraishe Mabhena has congratulated Buffaloes Juniors for winning the championship.

“On behalf of the ZIFA Eastern Region board, I’d like to congratulate Buffaloes Juniors for gaining promotion into the Premier League. We wish them a permanent stay in the PSL. I’d also want to acknowledge and commend the participation of the other 15 teams who made the qualification a big challenge for Buffaloes Juniors right up to the final day,” said Mabhena in a statement.
