Head coach Shadreck Mugurasawe said it was difficult to keep the players focussed last season as there were no incentives.
Buffaloes were also involved in an accident last year with six of their key players being injured.
“After the accident, with the assistance of Peter Masibera, we engaged the affected family members as we persuaded them to allow their relatives to continue playing soccer because they were representing Manicaland
Province,” said Mugurasawe.
Mugurasawe is assisted by Masibera, one of the finest players to emerge from Manicaland, and Timothy Masachi.
Sithule Moyo is the team manager.
“Now that we have gained promotion into the Premier Soccer League, we are not going to change out training programme but maintain it and introduce gym sessions,” said Mugurasawe.
Buffaloes managed to retain the squad they had in the Eastern Region Division One last year.
Mugurasawe said they would add six players with Premiership experience to bolster his 2012 squad.
Club secretary, Chitowa, said they were indebted to the support they were getting.
“For the whole season we had only two sets of uniforms but the players remained focused in achieving their goal.
“The small amount we have been collecting as gate-takings at home games, we were using to pay winning bonuses for the players,” said Chitowa.
He said they were motivated to win the Division One race to bring Premiership football to Mutare.
