A BUHERA man who is facing six counts of raping two juveniles stunned court officials at the Rusape Magistrates’ Courts on Monday when he revealed during trial that his manhood was too small to have an erection.
In denying the charges, Solomon Mugwenhi (36) told regional magistrate, Mr Livingstone Chipadza, that his manhood was a useless toy that could not do any harm to his nieces aged nine and eight.
By inserting the manhood into the girls’ private parts, he said, he was just trying to find out if it was now functional.
It was the State’s case led by area public prosecutor, Mr Tirivanhu Mutyasira, that Mugwenhi of Mugwenhi Village under Chief Makumbe in Buhera raped the girls since 2011.
“Five of the counts were perpetrated on the nine-year-old girl. One day he called the girl into his bedroom and told her that since she was her niece she was as good as his wife. The girl did not understand what he meant. In an instant, he grabbed the girl and tossed her on to the bed, removed her clothes and raped her. After committing the offence he produced a knife and threatened to kill her if she ever divulged the ordeal to anyone,” said Mr Mutyasira.
He repeated the same modus operandi on the girl on four different occasions stretching up to September last year.
He then turned to the younger girl whom he also raped.
However, luck ran out when he was raping the minor as his brother caught him red-handed in the act.
“My penis is too small, I cannot achieve any erection, so I put my penis between my nieces’ thighs to assess my manhood and also my wife ran away because of lack of sexual satisfaction,” he said.
The State will produce medical examinations which show that there was penetration and the girls were violated.
Mr Chipadza denied him bail saying he was likely to interfere with State witnesses because of the gravity of the offence.
The case continues on September 14 when Mugwenhi is expected to call his witnesses to buttress his defence.
In an unrelated case, Mr Chipadza slapped a 26-year-old Buhera man with a 15-year jail term after he was convicted of raping his girlfriend’s daughter aged three years.
However, three years of the sentence were set aside on condition of good behaviour.
Mr Mutyasira told the court that Sylvester Munawapi who was in love with the minor’s mother raped the girl after he had drugged his girlfriend.
“One night the accused went with the complainant’s mother to Chari Night Club in Murambinda and left the girl at home.
“When they were at the club he bought whisky and gave it to his girlfriend who drank it and got heavily intoxicated. They later retired home but his girlfriend was drank.
“They slept on the same bed with the complainant. Before raping the minor he shook his girlfriend to verify if she was really asleep and found out that was deep in her sleep.
He then took the complainant from the bed and spread a blanket on the floor and raped her. During the act the girl cried but her mother could not hear anything. After committing the offence he threatened the girl with assault if she told anyone,” said Mr Mutyasira.
The following day the complainant went to Mwerahari River with her mother’s friend to take a bath.
Along the way she had difficulties in walking.
She also refused to take a bath when she reached the river.
She was quizzed over her weird behaviour and she revealed what happened.
The matter was subsequently reported to the police leading to Munawapi’s arrest.
