Building collapses kills one injured six

ONE person has died and six injured when a building collapsed on them in Harare.

The building, along Chinhoyi Street, Harare Central business district, collapsed near Gulf Complex, while the victims were in the pavement, taking shelter from a hailstorm the Zimbabwe Republic Police have said in a statement.

The incident occurred on April 6 2024 at 3.30PM.

“Property was also damaged, including three vehicles that were parked in front of the building,” said the Police.

The ZRP has released the names of the now deceased who was identified by her next of kin as well as the names of the injured victims as; Yolanda Hodzi, a female adult of Maridale Norton whose body was identified by her next of kin.

The injured victims were also named as;
1. Kudzaishe Mafauna (20), a male adult of Ushewekunze,Harare
2.Trywell Leadmore,a male adult of Adlean,Westgate,Harare
3.Wadzanai Baureni,a female adult of Waterfalls,Harare
4.Brendon Madondo,a male adult of Unit K,Chitungwiza
5.Conilias Chiwaka(41),a male adult of Ruwa

The now deceased’s body was taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals mortuary for a post mortem whilst injured persons are also admitted at the same hospital.

The damaged vehicles were also listed as follows;
Mazda 323,registration number,AAW 5934
Toyota Probox,registration number,AGE 8052
Toyota spade, registration number,AGN 6805.”
