Police shoot and wound armed robber in Queens Park Bulawayo

AN armed robber tried to disarm a police officer with a machete and was shot in the stomach in a botched robbery in Bulawayo’s Queens Park suburb.

According to a statement released by the ZRP, the shooting occurred in what was a suspected robbery case.

The shooting occurred on Saturday.

The three suspects, James Moyo (35),Tinashe Dembure (29) and Mthulisi Maphosa (29), have since been arrested by the police.

“Upon arrest, the suspect, James Moyo, tried to disarm a police officer using a machete. The suspect was, however, shot in the stomach and was referred to United Bulawayo Hospitals for treatment.

The ZRP has since given a stern warning to members of the public who are caught on the wrong end of the law that should they try to confront the police they will be met with appropriate responses.

Members of the public are also urged to remain alert and report all criminal acts on National complaints desk number (0242) 703631 or whatsapp on 0712 800 197 or report to any nearest police station.”
