LONDON. – Arsenal are keen to tie down Bukayo Saka this summer with the Prem’s top two tracking the England star.
Champions Manchester City and perennial title-rivals Liverpool are both keen on the precocious 20-year-old winger.
Saka has two years left on his deal at the Emirates.
He signed an extension in 2020 which expires in 2024, meaning the Gunners could lose him at a knock-down price next summer.
Now Arsenal news service @afcstuff, via transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, say the London giants are trying hard to avoid that scenario. They tweeted: “Arsenal have been in talks with Bukayo Saka’s camp over a contract extension since February.
“They consider it a priority for this summer.
“Despite top English clubs monitoring the situation, Saka’s priority is to stay at Arsenal, he loves the club.”
The Hale End Academy product’s reported commitment to the Arsenal cause will be welcome news for Gunners fans after his rise to prominence in recent years.
The 18-cap star is likely to be a key man for the Three Lions at this winter’s World Cup.
And last month it was reported City and the Reds were keen to see if they could lure him away with the chance to play Champions League football and regularly challenge for top honours.
Saka was the Gunners’ top-scorer with 12 goals last season and also chipped in with seven assists.
And he looks in good nick again as he netted in a 2-0 pre-season friendly win over Everton in Baltimore, USA, on Saturday.
Arsenal have also agreed a £30m deal with Manchester City to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko, which includes £2m in add-ons.
The midfielder, who has played many games at left-back for the Blues, is currently on a pre-season tour in the US with the Premier League champions.
The Ukraine international, 25, is expected to fly back to England in the coming days to complete the move.
Zinchenko was one of Pep Guardiola’s first signings as City coach in 2016.
He has gone on to win four league titles, an FA Cup and four League Cups, making 128 appearances in all competitions.
Zinchenko would be the second player to switch from City to the Emirates this summer after striker Gabriel Jesus moved earlier this month. – The Sun/BBC Sport.
