Bulawayo artistes Billed for Glamour Awards

BULAWAYO-BASED artistes head into Gweru for that city’s arts awards the Gweru Glamour Awards (GGA) as hot favourites to walk away with gongs.

The awards ceremony running into its third year has 27 categories and Bulawayo artistes are nominated in all of them.

Prince Albert the founder of the awards said Bulawayo artistes hard work deserves to be recognised.

“Bulawayo has the most nominees with more than 15 artistes and fashion designers from the city being nominated for their good works,” said Albert.

Rapper Cal_Vin leads artistes the Bulawayo contingent with four nominations. Another rapper Asaph has three nominations.

Albert hopes this becomes a stepping stone for Bulawayo entertainment content creators, after the awards they should be able to do more and gain more ground in their respective paths.

“The awards should help Bulawayo artistes know their worth. They are not forgotten, they don’t live in their own island, we are one,” added Albert.

The GGAs’ were founded by Prince Albert a student at Midlands State University in 2016 to promote and appreciate young talent in the academic, entertainment and fashion sectors.

Other Bulawayo artistes nominated for these awards are MUSE, Mzoe 7, Andy Carter, Albert Nyathi, Aubreyszn, GTI, Anelisiwe Ndebele and The Super Geeks.

Look Alive fashion designs was nominated for Best Fashion Designer and KoBulawayo nominated for Best Online Media.
