FRUSTRATION is getting the better of South African-based cage fighter Elvis Moyo, who has gone for five months without a fight. The Bulawayo-born boxer, who turned to cage fighting in 2014 after going for a lengthy period without a bout, said heavyweight fighters are chickening out. Moyo’s last fight was in December when he knocked out Vandam Mbuyi at Carnival City in Johannesburg. The win was Moyo’s fifth in eight Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) Africa fights.
“I was supposed to fight in March, but failed to get an opponent and now I’m going to miss the May 13 bill set for Carnival City because, again, no one wants to face me. Just like in boxing, it seems heavyweight fighters are chickening out,” said Moyo.
Moyo’s other victories in EFC Africa were against Sors “Guru” Grobbelaar in his debut cage fight in March 2014, Wilhelm “Tiny” Strauss in August and Didier-Kilola in November of the same year. He also beat Lance Cerenio in February last year.
The Bulawayo Bomber lost twice in 2014 to Brendon Groenwald and Andrew Van Zyl.
In June last year, Moyo also lost to Poland’s Tomasz “Kredka” Kowalkowski.
