BUDDING Bulawayo pugilist Elvis Victor Moyo will take on former South Africa heavyweight champion Osbourne Machimana in a World Boxing Federation title fight in Cape Town, South Africa on 22 November.
The two boxers will be facing each other for the second time this year having fought in March at Sandton Convention Centre when they traded leather in an undercard of the Chris “The Heat” Van Heerden and Matthew “Magic” Hatton’s International Boxing Organisation welterweight title fight.

Moyo and Machimana’s bill ended in a controversial draw as reports from South Africa said the Zimbabwean boxer had outclassed his opponent.

In one of the reports, Supersport.com said, “former SA champion Osborne Machimana (125kg) was rather fortunate to get a majority draw against Elvis Moyo (112.30 kg). The scores were 58-56 and 57-57 on the two other cards.”

In an interview from his South African base on Saturday, Moyo whose ring name is Bulawayo Bomber said he is ready to take on Machimana.

“I have been training hard for the game and I can safely say I am ready to face him. I fought him in March and that encounter ended in a draw though I felt I had an upper hand. Now that we are going for a title fight, I want to knock him out and take the title home.
“He must expect a tough fight because I want to raise the stakes,” said Moyo.

Moyo has 10 fights under his belt wining three against Justice Silinga, Kali Kalembe and Stephen Castle.
The Bulawayo Bomber lost to Joseph Chingangu, Flo Simba, Danny Venter and twice to Lunga Makaku. His draws were against Johnny Muller and Machimana.

Moyo said he would be doing sparring with his former Tshaka Youth Centre Gym mate Thamsanqa Dube.
“Thamu (Dube) is here in South Africa and I think he is the right person for me to do sparring with. I need someone who will take a go at me so that when I get into the ring next month I am more than fit. I have been talking to Thamu and I think we should start our training together sometime next week,” said Moyo.
